At The Lake House

I made A's dress.

This was 1998.
A is with her Grandpa.

A Birthday Story

Left to right: 2 friends with A. and E.

Each year, while my girls were little, I would make a group of Birthday Dresses for my 2 girls and their 2 friends. I would start with A's birthday since she was first for the year - in January. I would design 4 matching, yet not identical, dresses that each of the 4 girls would wear to each others' birthday parties throughout the year. This was E's 6th birthday in June 1998.

Patchwork

I made E's dress and bloomers.
Note: ...those are stacks of cloth diapers and a diaper pail. I was a responsible, Earth-minded mom. Well ok, I did cheat a little a few times. I didn't wash the cloth diapers though--I had a diaper service, a true luxury. When the fresh diaper delivery day came each week I would sit and fold them and E would quickly unfold each one from the stack...a fun game!!
One of my dad's very first young adult jobs was a part time diaper service delivery driver. Not his top favorite job in his life.

Halloween

I made A's Dorothy dress.
She was so very happy, and especially with her sparkly shoes
with "high heels" as she called them!
