Water Your Camel and Come Along

Here we are back at the super duper cool museum.
It's almost as good as going to Egypt.
How lucky to have these authentic Egyptian artifacts in a museum to study. I have to admit that it is a little hard to think about the fact that these things should have stayed in Egypt in the tombs or palaces or temples or what ever. But I also have to admit that I feel privileged to have them safely preserved so near me that I can visit them anytime I take a road trip to the museum.

The Toledo Museum Of Art owns a real Egyptian mummy and keeps it in a climate controlled vault- securely out of site of visitors. They take it out occasionally to display. We last saw it several years ago. During the visit a few weeks ago when I took these pictures, we asked the curator if they would have the mummy out again soon.
He said, "Yes! In February of 2008!"
Yeah...Yippee!! I love to see it.
For those of you not within driving distance, we were also told it will be viewable on line!!
How cool is that?!!

This is a very tiny section of a very long Book Of The Dead scroll in a glass case....
The art is so fascinating to me.
My boy N. says, "That no head statue freaks me out!"

I enjoy this tour each and every time because
I would never be able to afford to go to Egypt and also I hate hot climates.
Two big draw backs, right?!

"Fantasy Family"

This picture is from this site. A wonderful wealth of possible family discoveries for genealogists!

1. I don't know these people, I'll bet they were kind and wonderful.
2. I make it all up, no ill will is intended.

Please meet Donald and Wilma.
Hmm...let's see...
that old saying comes to mind-
"somewhere there's a lid for every pot!"

Calling All Baby Boomers!

Hey! If you were born between the mid 1940's and the early 1960's then you may remember these items.

A vintage nursery planter and rattles.
The plant always died eventually but the planters live on!!

Melmac dishes. I grew up with these on the table! It seems these babies are indestructible.
It was the bomb shelter years- wasn't it?!

PARTY!!
With these candle holders on the cake it was always a good time guaranteed.

How many drinks were enjoyed with these beauties? A suburban staple in the kitchen cupboard. I always seemed to choose a pink one...which one did you drink from?
