I admit that some things that appeal to me seem silly...but they end up calling my name and they sometimes follow me home as a temporary resident - until I grow tired of looking at them - then away they go. OLD BOXES from games and such
-whether they have the "guts" in them or not-
are usually something that catch my artistist eye with their graphics and colors, especially pre-1970's stuff.
This one is just an empty box that I adore for the colors
but many people that see this on my shelf also like the graphics.
What silly things do you collect? I'd love to hear about it!
Amy,
ReplyDeleteRegarding the "boxes", I think you're right the first time: JUNK! ha-ha-! Well, you asked!
Silly things? What silly things? LOL
ReplyDeleteI collect so many things, I'm sure some people would consider silly. My first collection was S&P sets ~ started that when I was about 11 yrs. old. I had a piggy collection for a while (when everyone else was collecting cows) ~ only have a few of them left. I collect advertising art ~ cans etc. with words on them. Love words! I also have a collection of original art by unknowns, including paint-by-number, which I have in my studio because I know my husband has too much class to let me display paint-by-numbers in the living room. I have a few fun paper weights. My favourite was given to me by a friend who is a doctor. It's a clear cube with a stomach in it. I also have buttons, dice and old game pieces. My list is much longer than that, but you get the picture.
Love your blog ~ I've added it to my ODDities & WONDERfullies section!
P.S. I LOVE your boxes ~ they are masterpieces of that time period's advertising art, aren't they? Besides, you could store stuff in them if you wished :)
