This is a marker in the front yard of a very old house (by Ohio standards. I realize in other countries they are lucky enough to consider 172 year old homes as "newer" homes!!) along the Maumee River that was built in 1835. One day I remembered I had my camera in my purse and pulled my car over to snap some pictures.
This house is the Greek Revival style of architecture and has 4 Doric columns. It is built along the slope of the river and is much larger in the back as it follows the receding land down toward the banks of the Maumee. People come from hundreds of miles away to this river; one of the best places for the Walleye fish run. I have never been inside this home but I remember my Mom telling me when I was young that she had once been inside. Apparently it was part of a home tour event at one time.

Wow--that is some place! You are so into the history of things Amy--I think you should become a historian--maybe write a book or two! Huh, what do you think?
