It's The Colors

Another thing I collect is Whitman children's books, games and cardboard tray puzzles from the 1960's and earlier. The attraction, I think, is the colors. They are different than the colors in today's graphics.
I can pick up a book and know that it is 1960's or before sometimes just by the color palette.
Above are my Whitman Animal Rummy cards. The book called My Special Day in the post below is one of my many Whitman books. I still have that one from childhood, but most of them have been thrifted for 10-50 cents each!!

Amy thanks for visiting my blog. I love the fairy village around the pines--how cute. I once had a bunny house against a tree but weather finally took its toll and is gone.
Love the old maid cards---my hubby won me an original Candyland game, but one of the pieces was missing---it was my favorite game in the 50s

Hi Amy! I had a flash back from my childhood when I saw these cards! I had those very same cards!!! Where they are now is a mystery..probably stuck away in some forgotten box in the attic. Thanks for sharing these. I played many a game with those cutie pies. They are great, huh? Take care, Becky at Cottage*Dreams (eBay) PS: If you'd like to come over and clean my house, just say when! LOL!! I'm Jennifer's Cottage of The Month and I saw your comment. It made me smile!
