This first photo is me in 1972 with my Grandma Bubbles and my cousins ~B (left) and J (behind Grandma).
It was Grandma's birthday. The cool thing was, when we drove about 1 1/2 hours North we always visited both houses because my Aunt B. & Uncle J. lived only a short way down the same road from Grandma & Grandpa's house!!
I guess I secretly was jealous that my cousins didn't really have to plan a trip to Grandma & Grandpa's place like I did. The road trip North always seemed soooo long because I was anxious to be there. The road trip home was anti climatic!Notice the pink dress I am wearing. It had a million vertical pin tucks along with vertical delicate lace and pearly buttons. My Mom saved lots of my dresses. If she had saved them all ~yikes!~ that would be a ton. I was the youngest of 4 and the ONLY girl...
I had A LOT of dresses!
A. is also wearing one of my childhood dresses. That dress has layers and layers of crinoline under it!! I know there must be a photo hiding somewhere of me wearing this one too. I may find it some day.
This is E. in our back yard holding some daffodils she just picked from the garden. The picket fence was from someone's garbage. They were having this charming old weathered picket fence replaced with modern, cold, not as charming, chain link fence!! I hauled it home a few 5 ft. sections at a time!! Phew!!!
Here is E. outside with her kitty Ginger
( short for her full name, Gingerbread).
The summer flowers were not put in yet.

Darling girl, Thank you so much for the "Dead Fred" info...I really am such a complete bonehead about computer stuff. I'd love to be able to do all the wizzy stuff that every one else just magic's, but alas I don't understand what I'm doing. I've been shouted at SO many times for touching the wrong button in the wrong order that I'm terified to do anything in case it explodes in a puff of smoke or I turn into a pumpkin or something!!! Oh those little dresses, I would so love to have had a little girl to dress up...(how pathetic is that!)xxx
Isn't it fun to see your dress on your daughter? My little girl wore a beautiful winter coat that was mine as a wee one. Red wool... I can't think of the brand... but very stylish in the 50's and early 60's!
I love that you "found " your picket fence :-} Once a year in our town (during the month of August) we have what is called "Scappers Day" where you can put out your "unwanted items" to the curb - we have found many treasures & it's the perfect way to recycle!
I think it is wonderful that your mother saved your dresses and even more wonderful that your daughters could wear them.
