"Fantasy Family"

These pictures are from this site.

1. I don't know these people, I'll bet they were kind and wonderful.
2. I make it all up, no ill will is intended.

This is a photo of Millie (right) and her sister Almira (left) taken in Baltimore long before Millie left to go away and marry Hank.

Millie and AlMira had been inseparable since they were teeny little gals. Mira was oldest by 11 months and proud of it! That gave her some authority over Millie, who could be silly as a goose at times.

Like now. These days, Mira was concerned because Millie had taken to talking to a man older than their Poppa! Not that this was uncommon, but, lands sake! Millie was young and pretty and so full of life! Mira was afraid to tell their Momma about Hank and Millie. They had met when Millie responded to a letter in a Lonely Hearts column some time back. These days Millie ran to meet Joe Spangler when the mail arrived at the Post Office. She could hear the mail train whistle from a distance and her cheeks got all a glow. But reading someone's chicken scratch and listening to them talk were too different things. Anybody could think of words to write. But was that really who that person was? Words on a piece of paper?

Mira was always the level headed one, the big sister . . . for once in her life she wanted to throw caution to the wind and take a chance. Still, an old man from the Lonely Hearts Column?

These two sisters were actually named May and June Timmons. They were named after the months they were born in. These girls had to grow up fast. They were pioneers and their father and mother died when the girls were teens. The girls had been taught to hunt and trap animals, so they went in the fur business for themselves. That's how they got the furs they have on. The girls both married brothers and named their fur company Busy Little Beavers. They both lived to be over a hundred years old and died at their beloved home on Beaver Mountain. xoxo Nita
